Santon achieves ISO14001 environmental accreditation

Date - April 2011

Santon has achieved certification to the ISO 14001:2004 standard - a renowned environmental management system from BSI (British Standards Institution.).

Environmental management remains a key priority for business in the UK, and ISO 14001 is a proven way of implementing and managing an environmental management system.  The standard provides a structured and practical approach to environmental management, and is widely acknowledged in industry and commerce in the UK and across the world.

Rob Fawkner, Santon's operations director said: "We're pleased to have received ISO 14001 accreditation as this underlines our commitment to adopting the best environmental methods as part of our manufacturing process.  The fact we were able to achieve the standard in a relatively short space of time is a testament to the commitment and hard work of the team here at Heatrae Sadia."

Heading up the company's effort to achieve certification to the ISO 14001 standard was Gus Riley, SHE manager for Santon and an experienced safety, health and environmental practitioner.  He said: "We believe that achieving ISO 14001 in a little over nine months is a significant achievement for a large manufacturing facility such as ours, and it demonstrates that both the management team and the workforce are committed to environmental improvement.  This tight time scale was only possible with support from Steven Rees, our quality systems engineer, and the groundwork that had already been laid down when we achieved our previous certifications."
