Santon Appoints new Operations Director

Date - February 2012

Santon has announced that Jonathan Madden has been appointed Operations Director.

In his new position, Jonathan will be responsible for quality, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering and maintenance, plus the safety and environmental requirements of the company.  Prior to moving into the Operations Director role, he was Technical Director for five years, leading the Research and Development Team to deliver 38 new products during the last three years.

Jonathan has been with the company since 1987 when he joined as a draftsman and has since worked in a number of different roles including National Service Manger, Quality Assurance and Service Manager, and Commercial Service Manager.  His career with Santon has involved significant travel throughout the UK, Europe and other regions; including the Middle and Far East.

Commenting on his appointment, Jonathan said: "I'm delighted to be taking on the Operations Director role at this particularly interesting time for Santon. Our current focus is on value added techniques and a lean philosophy to help create a factory for a successful and sustainable future.  I believe key to this is investment in people and the latest technology to maintain our market leading position in the water heating industry."

Born in Norwich, Norfolk, Jonathan attended Taverham High School, Norwich City College and later Warwich Business School.  He began his career as a draghtsman with Tryco Design in 1983 before making the move to Santon four years later.

Jonathan holds a fellowship with the Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering.

Under Jonathans's leadership in late 2011 Santon received an environmental award in recognition of its continued commitment to promoting greener products and practice in the workplace at the Eastern Daily Press Business Awards.

The company triumphed in the Environmental & Sustainability Award category due to what was described by the judges as a clear engagement to sustainability and environmental issues.  Numerous factors contributed in the company's achievement, including its certification to the ISO 14001:2004 standard - the renowned environmental management system from BSI (British Standards Institution.)
